Zipline Adventure

Yesterday we did tackled this zip line course again and I was reminded what an EXCELLENT family adventure this is!!  I decided to repost my initial blog hoping you all will put it on your list for summer fun. The course is amazing. Still, I'm heading to bed early!

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine was visiting Atlanta and sent me a text about a fantastic adventure, perfect for the entire family - ziplining!

I had been on "canopy tours" and zip lines on assorted vacations, but I'd never tried it near home. I wasn't entirely sure the kids would dig it, but when a Groupon offer came up cutting the price in half, we jumped in.

As it turns out, the outing was one of our all-time favorite family adventures! (And no, we haven't received any compensation for the endorsement!!)

If you live in the Atlanta area, you may have already heard of Treetop Quest in Gwinnett County (this won't be the first "party" where I show up late.)  However, this kind of outing is available all over the country.

In fact, I've done a little research for locations in many places where I have blog readers.  NOTE - I've only visited the one in Atlanta, so "cavet emptor," you should look for references yourself.  Click on locations near you...California (all over the state), New York, Chicago, Portland, Washington, Texas, Colorado (I SO want to take the family here!!), and Phoenix.

Here's the scoop of what the day holds when you do this.  You begin by putting on a crazy, snug-fitting, unflattering harness.  (For the record, I didn't make eye contact with the guy tightening my straps.)

Next, you take a 15-20 minute training session to learn new words like "carabiner" and "tweezel."  These words sound odd at first, but you'll be mixing them into your vocabulary for the next couple of hours and they'll roll off your tongue like "grande skinny latte" does at 7 a.m.

You'll spend time on a very small course practicing your skills and walking across wires. Then you'll be released onto the course to tackle assorted obstacles.  At Treetop Quest this includes easy challenges like the rope bridge.

More demanding challenges like the swinging log bridge.

And flat out, yell at full volume, fun, Fun, FUN challenges like the zipline.

And laugh,  hoot, and holler. The reviews from Team Phenix were decidedly off the charts.  I realized what an impact the day made when my son was drawing his favorite summer moments and this is what came out #1.I'd love to tell you that we were in such great shape that all of these shenanigans didn't make us sore at all.  Let's just say, the kids didn't complain about tired muscles at all!!!

Remember to check out deals on Groupon.  We had half off adult prices and paying less ALWAYS makes a trip more fun!!

Have you ever done something like this with your family?
