The List Goes Wrong
It was bound to happen sooner or later. Recently the super fun, oh-so-consistent eating adventure with Creative Loafing's Best Dish List has taken a turn into decidedly average territory. In fact, this sad turn of mediocrity has happened not once, but twice.
I know. I know. I'm heart-broken too.
The first was with Gu's Dumplings in Krog St. Market. I love dumplings and the reputation of this place has been outstanding, so my hopes were high.Can you see the problem? Or should I say problems? Flat dumplings, swimming in oil. The red pepper was overwhelming and the experience decidedly underwhelming.
Meanwhile, over on Buford Highway is a bubble tea place, Kung Fu Tea, which was super exciting because I LOVE bubble tea. After all, what's not to love about big tapioca bubbles?The place was HOPPING the night we went and had a great vibe, particularly for Buford Highway.However, the suggestion for Golden Oolong tea just missed the mark since the flavors were decidedly bland.The good news is there are PLENTY of other options to try - just skip the one from The List.
I'm hoping next week brings better options and outcomes!!
