Lists I Make

“The only thing more important than your to-do list is your to-be list. The only thing more important than your to-be list is to be."Alan Cohen

In the past two days I've come across no fewer than five paper lists, three electronic lists, two flip pad lists, and one white board list.  I usually make lists at the start of every Morning Page session, and I theoretically use my email as a reminder bucket.

Of course I also have a running list in my head of things which I need to do IMMEDIATELY which acts like the mental equivalent of having a pebble in my shoe.

I've tried Getting Things Done, Nozbe, Evernote, and iPhone Reminders with varying degrees of success. (I can't call them failures if I still dabble, right?) I realize I'm leaning into my procrastination tendencies; however, I think there are things which really only deserve attention on snow days.

And so, I've decided to officially put away the tasks which can wait until this winter - or next, depending on Atlanta weather!  This is my official parking lot - where I'm betting the tasks will stay.

Sewing ties in duvet covers

(Actually all sewing repairs)

Cleaning grout

Re-alphabetizing the spice drawer

Ordering book library so it's sorted by type, then alpha by author (doesn't everyone have this ambition?)

Organizing historical tax receipts

Finishing the Kondi organization projects

Reading The Brothers K

Conquering Puzzle mania

Waxing the dining room table

Organizing the attic

Purging my considerable photo library

Catching up on my DVR backlog

Fixing chipped baseboard paint (I see you dings & dents!)

Figuring out what's on all of my jump drives

Whew!

I feel better already...

What do you need to put into your "parking lot" of tasks to free up brain space?
