Best Omelet in Your State

If you haven't been to Waffle House recently, or if you've never ordered their omelet or pecan waffle, I thought I'd remind you to give it a try.  This post was originally published in 2012, but the review still holds today!! *********************

OK - the headline might be a little over-reaching, but only because the restaurant that makes the best omelet is only found in 25 states.  Plus, I'm just talking about your basic cheese/ham/mushroom (and any combinations thereof!) omelet.

But under those parameters, I'm convinced that the omelet at Waffle House takes the prize.

Yep.  True Story!  (That's my opinion, and you can't talk me out of it.)

When I first moved to Atlanta, I avoided Waffle House as if it were a contagious rash.  I was convinced that nothing good could come from a place that had locations on both the North AND South side of the freeway (find your closest location here).  Fortunate for me, my brother-in-law dragged me and my sister there once during their visits.

How wrong I was!

In fact, there are times when nothing else BESIDES this omelet will do.  I think that the secret for the greatness of this egg creation is that they blend the eggs in one of those aluminum milk shake blenders.  That infuses the eggs with tons of air and makes it light and fluffy.  Check out this beauty:

And if you're either REALLY hungry OR there's someone in your party who wants a waffle, be sure to order the pecan waffle.  The pecans are in the batter, so they get toasted in the baking process and are amazing.  I can see why Creative Loafing put it on The List.So if your Sunday plans include eating out, remember you won't go wrong at The House!
