Believe it or not, you ARE a creative "type."

“We've all heard that the unexamined life is not worth living, but consider too that the unlived life is not worth examining.”Julia Cameron"'I'm not a creative type."

I used to make that statement regularly and with conviction.  I had plenty of evidence on my side.

I can't draw a straight line, or carry a tune, and my ability to craft a rhyme is next to zero.  I don't see nuances in colors, I certainly don't dance, and I organize most of my thoughts in outline format.

I've met creative types, and I'm not one of them thankyouverymuch.

This was my thinking before I realized that creativity isn't a personality temperament given to the select few , but rather, it's a muscle given to all.

That's right. We are ALL the creative type. We all have creativity built into us, as part of our operating system; the question is whether we choose to use it or not.

If you own a Mac computer with current software, you may (or may not) realize that a chess game is baked into the operating system.  You may never play chess, but that doesn't change the fact that it's there, waiting for you to use.

Your creativity may feel inaccessible, but your feeling isn't reality; creativity is part of your hard-wiring.  Anyone and everyone can find a way to their imagination.

For me, the journey started with Morning Pages.  For you, it may be having seemingly unproductive "play dates" or simply playing.  If you look, if you listen to the still small voice that wants to dream, you'll find it.

The bigger question is, do you want to?
